Tapp Commerce receives Tekes’ Young Innovative Company Award and Funding

The Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, Tekes, evaluates the most promising Finnish startup companies for The Young Innovative Companies programme (YIC) and awards Tapp Commerce up to 1.25 million euros. Tekes recognises Tapp Commerce as a company with potential for hyper-growth and rapid international expansion.

Tapp Commerce is seen as an optimal fit for YIC funding with high growth, promising business operations and revenues. The company has a clear plan to grow and execute in global markets. Tekes award will allow Tapp Commerce to accelerate its plan to scale the business initially across the South East Asia region. Tapp Market, a mobile marketplace for emerging markets, improves the quality of life for common people who live in a cash economy. Tapp Market is already actively used in Indonesia and in the Philippines.

Tapp Commerce is fast growing startup company from Finland, who provides mobile solutions for cash economies. Tapp Commerce first consumer solution, Tapp Market, is currently launching in several South East Asian markets. Currently there are 23 people working in Finland, 35 people working in Indonesia and 7 people working in the Philippines at Tapp Commerce. Tapp Commerce is expanding its agent network by tens of thousands of agents (grassroots sellers) and reaches several millions of consumers within coming months. 

Tapp Market, the mobile marketplace, is available for Android devices. Tapp Market is currently used by more than 28.000 sales agents and have served more than 1.700.000 unique buyers and consumers in South East Asia. Tapp Market was launched in Indonesia in July 2015 and Philippines in March 2016. Both Thailand and Vietnam operations are about to start while Myanmar’s market feasibility exploration is on-going. The Tekes award will allow Tapp Commerce to accelerate its plan to scale the business across the South East Asia region.
